Atlanta has put itself on the map as a startup hub, especially regarding tech. The Business Journals points out the area is known for its low corporate taxes and fees, as well as an expansive network of talent, tech-focused schools, and company executives.

Black Enterprise points out that it’s an ideal place for diverse IT talent to flock since tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet, Inc. have all opened offices there. The area boasts more than a dozen unicorns, and it certainly helps that the community has invested in its startup ecosystem.

In fact, one of Nebraska’s most active startup enthusiasts, Scott Henderson of NMotion, honed his skills in Atlanta. He was the executive director of Hypepotamus, which still raises awareness about tech startups in the Southeast, and he co-founded Sandbox ATL, which was essentially a social club for Tech Square in Atlanta.

As a valued member of our tech ecosystem, he’s been instrumental in the success of startups like Bumper and Plug Sports, both of which were featured in our Nebraska Startups to Watch blog.

The criteria for our list of Atlanta startups to watch in 2022 include:

  • Founded 2018 or later

  • Early-stage (Pre-seed, seed, or bootstrapped)

  • Fewer than 100 employees

  • Offers usable technology

  • Headquartered in Atlanta

Atlanta Startups

808 - Booking Platform

Before they had a startup scene, Atlanta was famous for its rocking (and rapping) music scene. Artists that got their start in Atlanta include Ludacris, TLC, John Mayer, and popular musician/producer Butch Walker. 808 aims to keep that scene alive with its production studio booking platform that makes finding, booking, and selling studio time a breeze.

UnDelay – Real-time Flight Data Analysis

If ever there was a pain point that needed soothing, it would be flight delays. Unfortunately, flight delays are just a fact of life for anyone who has to travel by plane—to a point.

UnDelay can’t do much about bad weather, but they say that 50% of delays can be traced back to maintenance, inspection, and operational issues. To combat this, the founders have developed this technology to decipher radio transmissions between the pilot, ground operators, and air traffic control and translate the information into a user-friendly tool. Airlines, airports, and travel companies can then use the information to take action and solve the problems more quickly and efficiently.

Parser.Run – Parser Software

To understand the importance of this software, you have to know what parsing is: a form of data collection that allows users to analyze anything from company information to blog post vocabulary and photos. As the Parser.Run website says, “If it’s online, [they] can parse it.”

Download the information, get URL analysis, and schedule daily, weekly, or monthly reports. Whether you’re a researcher, growth hacker, or marketer, you can never have too much data—and Parser.Run’s website scraping technology will give you plenty.

Invitation Codes – Code-sharing platform

There is nothing worse than missing out on free money. Many companies offer referral codes, allowing existing customers to receive a discount or kickback for getting their friends to use a product or service. Wal-Mart did this when they first started offering curbside pickup by giving customers $10 towards their next order every time a friend used their code, and the friend also got $10.

I think I paid for an entire week of groceries just in referral credits.

Often, however, the credits just sit there, unused. Enter Invitation Codes, an online referral code sharing platform. Post your codes, keep codes in your profile, and use the browser extension to check for referral codes before signing up to use or purchase a product. There’s even a leaderboard for those who need a little more motivation to stay active and—you guessed it—refer friends.

SynsorMed – RPM MedTech

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) is becoming a more common solution among medical professionals. Patients can be monitored in the comfort of their own homes, while the doctors receive vital data from afar. SynsorMed is capable of monitoring patients for hypertension, COPD, Diabetes, and obesity, and they have plans to add temperature and ECG to that list.

SynsorMed strives to make this type of telemedicine easy to use for providers and patients. Providers may hesitate to utilize these services because they’re concerned about getting reimbursed. Synsormed guarantees reimbursement, provides cellular-connected devices, and offers unrivaled support.

eBanqo – AI Customer Service

eBanqo’s goal is to improve companies’ customer service, marketing, and sales using AI technology. eBanqo focuses solely on communication through messaging platforms, but while most companies have their own messaging system for customer service, eBanqo lets companies automate services, set up automated responses, and even interact live through Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and more all in one convenient space.

Managr – Sales Data Automation

Managr focuses on efficiency. According to their website, salespeople spend up to two hours a day on data entry. Managr automates much of this process and provides the ability to make reports, updates, etc., from one interface rather than switching between platforms. This time-saving software benefits everyone: the sales team has more time to sell, and they (and the company) make more money. This software integrates seamlessly with Slack, and they call it “the best way to update Salesforce.”

It’s no wonder Managr was recently named one of the top ten innovative tech companies by the Technology Association of Georgia.

aiLegal – Contract Automation

aiLegal provides document automation solutions for contracts. Draw them up, collaborate, comment, negotiate, sign, and even pay via one convenient platform. The company offers efficient, time-saving (and therefore money-saving) solutions tailored to the real estate industry, legal and financial services, education, manufacturing, nonprofits, and startups!

Patron Consumer Intelligence – Retail and Property Owner Data Analysis

I used to work at a bookstore, and even with a 40% employee discount, Amazon.com was usually cheaper. Amazon killed bookstores. Netflix killed Blockbuster. Video killed the radio star. Will tech kill every brick-and-mortar store? If Patron is correct, the answer is no!

Patron believes that their AI-powered geosocial and geospatial technology is the key to helping brick-and-mortar businesses thrive.

What does the internet have over traditional businesses? As Keith Fix of Retail Aware will tell you, it’s data. Patron collects data concerning the “who, what, where, why, when, and how of your consumers’ lives.” The program filters out irrelevant information, leaving you with the knowledge of how to reach your target customers.

They’ve honed this technology to benefit not only retailers, but also property owners, helping to connect them with the right tenants.

Vower – Earn Points for Gigs

Vower wants to make the time you spend investing in your community more rewarding—by offering rewards! Time is valuable, and Vower assigns points to each task you choose from their opportunity list. The list includes internships (many of which also have a monthly stipend), volunteer opportunities, and one-time tasks or events. Points can be traded in for gift cards or items on your wish list, like AirPods or a pair of Jordans.

It’s reminiscent of a school fundraiser, but instead of going from door to door asking people to buy popcorn and wrapping paper, you’re doing good deeds and getting prizes that are much cooler than a squishy pencil topper.

Pruuvn – Background Tracking System

We verify all kinds of things: If a product is vegan, whether a nanny found via Care.com can pass a background check, if this website is safe to use. Somehow, we’ve never developed a streamlined way to verify freelance talent—until Pruuvn.

Individuals can sign up to show their credentials and solidify their reputations. Companies can use it to verify those credentials, perform a criminal background check, and dig into work history. Blockchain technology can even track community engagement and—with the owner’s permission—provide medical records.

This background tracking system seems unmatched so far. Take a giant step towards establishing a trusted relationship by signing up with Pruuvn.

Atlanta is such a popular spot for startups; we know we didn’t have time to list them all! Which of these are you most excited about? Which are you least excited about? We love a good startup discussion.
